About the event

Join recording artist Amanda Vernon, alongside Jared Farley and Beth Barcus from Porter’s Call, a nonprofit advocacy and guidance resource for full-time recording artists. Gain a fresh perspective on the lives of musical performers both on and off stage, and depart with a heightened sensitivity to meet the distinct needs of touring artists. This webinar will be moderated by Dr. Rondy Lazaro.

Rondy Michael Lazaro, MD is a sports medicine physician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester. Dr. Lazaro earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University and Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. His clinical interests include sports medicine, musculoskeletal injuries, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, running injury management, and performing arts medicine. Amanda Vernon is a recording artist of soulful pop, who has shared her music and message across seven countries, in venues as diverse as World Youth Days in Sydney and Madrid, to singing the National Anthem at Lambeau Field for ESPN’s LIVE broadcast of Monday Night Football. Amanda has released 8 original albums, a co-authored memoir, a vlog series, and a podcast called, “We Should Pray.” Amanda’s family imbued her with the legacy of Gospel Spirituals, which inspires her songwriting and her message of joy in the midst of any storm. Amanda resides in Phoenix, Arizona, USA with her husband and their four children between the ages of 13 and 7.

Beth Barcus worked within nonprofit organizations providing crisis intervention counseling and care.  Beth received her Masters degree and was trained in counseling. However, at Porter’s Call she gets to lay down the title of therapist to pick up the title of Porter and Co-Executive Director. As a Porter, she has met with thousands of touring and recording artists/partners. It’s been her great privilege to provide confidential support & encouragement to individuals, couples, and bands, speaking/teaching, and leading groups, retreats, & intensives. Beth is passionate about helping people find freedom and healing, as she seeks to be a safe friend who guides people through their pain to the gift of hope found on the other side.  When Beth is not at the office, she enjoys time with her husband Blaine and their 3 children —  twins, Jude & Kenya, and Micah.

Jared Farley is a Florida native who moved to Nashville to grow in his ability to care for the souls and hearts of others by attending graduate school and receiving his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. He has been a part of organizations as a therapist, but also as a coach, helping bridge some of the relational gap that he felt his clients would benefit from. Once hearing about Porter’s Call about a year ago, he immediately was bought into the mission and vision of catering towards those in the music industry. He brings all of his helping experience, as well as his own passion and experience in music, to care for artists and their significant others through Portering. He is recently married to his wife, Aracely, and they have two dogs named Piper and Tonks (also known as Nymphadora when she isn’t behaving). He is an avid fan of all things Liverpool and loves him some Tolkein.

Born in western Kentucky and raised in southern Indiana, Sean Stemaly’s music is inspired by his country roots. A former diesel-wrenching, heavy equipment operator, Stemaly taught himself to sing over endless days in the cab of a Case IH 9370 tractor. Influenced by iconic country and rock artists, from Brooks & Dunn and Waylon Jennings, to Van Halen, Nickelback and System of a Down, Stemaly followed his dreams to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in music. Since making the move, Stemaly has racked up more than 350 million global streams and hit the road with artists such as Morgan Wallen, Justin Moore, HARDY, and Dustin Lynch. His debut album, Product Of A Small Town, exhibits his take on modern country with a youthful, salt-of-the-earth swagger and rocked-up heartland soul. With hits like “Z71” and “Come Back to Bed” and a recent EP called 4 Wheel High, Stemaly is just getting started. Even though his terrain has changed, he’s still very much the Product Of A Small Town.
