MUSICIANS' MENTAL HEALTH
& WELLNESS FUND
In partnership with The Head & The Heart's Rivers & Roads Foundation and fellow Seattle music community members Stone Gossard, Susan Silver, Lily Cornell Silver, and Maggie Savarino, brought together by Nicole Vandenberg, SMASH offers free and low-cost mental health treatment through our Musicians Mental Health & Wellness Fund.

SMASH works with in-person and telehealth providers to provide musicians with free and low-cost mental health care for musicians. If you already have a mental health provider, we can pay your provider directly.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES
We’ve compiled a list of mental health resources, programs, and services from city, county, state, and other nonprofit organizations to help those in the Seattle area struggling with their mental health. These resources include help with getting access to low-cost and free therapy, substance use disorder treatment and more.
988 : SUICIDE & CRISIS LINE
The 988 three-digit phone number, or a text to 741741, connects you quickly to what was formerly know as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This service provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for You or Your loved ones, and best practices for professionals. You can still call the old number: (800)273-8255 to be connected to this service.
WASHINGTON CRISIS CONNECTIONS
For immediate help in times of emotional crisis for You, Your family, or friends in need, call the 24-Hour Crisis Line: 866-4CRISIS or (866) 427-4747.
WA WARM LINE (877) 500-9276
WA Warm Line is a peer support help line for people living with emotional and mental health challenges. Calls are answered by specially-trained volunteers who have lived experience with mental health challenges. They have a deep understanding of what you are going through and are here to provide emotional support, comfort, and information. All calls are confidential. Monday-Friday from 5:00-9:00 PM and Saturday-Sunday from 12:30-9:00 PM
SMASH MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
SMASH works with a therapy telehealth provider to give musicians access to 12 low-cost mental health sessions. If you already have a mental health provider, we can help subsidize your payments.

CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICE MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES
The CCSWW Family Behavioral Health System, strives to provide care that is strengths-based, family driven, and culturally relevant. Their team, which includes therapists, a child psychiatrist, and support staff, offers assessment and individual service planning, case management, psychiatric services, mental health counseling, and parenting classes. In addition, 24/7 crisis response is available for all of our enrolled clients.
Brown Girl Therapy is an online community founded by licensed therapist Sahaj Kaur Kohli, aiming to destigmatize mental health and promote bicultural identity exploration. The community of over 200,000 exists to remind children of immigrants that they deserve belonging and joy, to encourage growth in connection with others, and to decolonize mental health. Brown Girl Therapy is also a hub for inclusive mental health resources, original narrative storytelling, and intentionally created personal development workshops, discussion-based meetups, and events.
Inclusive Therapists aims to make the process of seeking therapy simpler and safer for all people, especially marginalized populations.
Melanin & Mental Health connects individuals with culturally competent clinicians committed to serving the mental health needs of Black & Latinx/Hispanic communities.
The National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN) is a healing justice organization committed to transforming mental health for queer and trans people of color (QTPoC).
Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM) is a training, movement building, and grant-making organization dedicated to the healing, wellness, and liberation of Black and marginalized communities.
Black Girls Smile Inc. promotes positive mental health for young African American girls.
Black Men Heal works to provide access to mental health treatment, psycho-education, and community resources to men of color.
Black Mental Health Alliance develops, promotes, and sponsors trusted, culturally-relevant educational forums, training, and referral services that support the health and wellbeing of Black people and other vulnerable communities.
Black Mental Wellness provides access to evidence-based information and resources about mental health and behavioral health topics from a Black perspective, highlights and increases the diversity of mental health professionals, and decreases the mental health stigma in the Black community. Black Therapists Rock is a community of Black therapists working to decrease the stigma and barriers to psychological and social wellbeing among marginalized communities.
The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation promotes mental wellness and strives to eradicate stigmatizing language surrounding mental illness through impactful programs, awareness campaigns, and educational initiatives. With a focus on providing vital mental health resources and fostering an environment of understanding and acceptance, BLHF encourages BIPOC and underrepresented communities communities to seek help and support without fear or shame, empowering individuals to prioritize their well-being and access the care they deserve.
Depressed While Black is an online community, blog, and video hub for Black mental health. The name is inspired by “Driving While Black” which refers to the lived experience of Black drivers who face racist policies resulting in increased traffic stops and police violence. DWB encapsulates the lived experience of Black people with depression who navigate racist policies in the mental health industrial complex. The organization seeks an end to psychiatric racism by affirming patients with the care items they need to feel safe and loved.

The Loveland Therapy Fund provides financial assistance to Black women and nonbinary individuals seeking mental health counseling.
Pretty Brown Girl’s mission is to empower Black and Brown girls while encouraging self-acceptance by cultivating social, emotional & intellectual well-being. (Instagram)

The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation addresses mental health conditions and eradicates the effects of trauma on the Black community by providing access to therapeutic resources, creative arts, and education designed to support mental health, physical wellness, and overall development.
Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA)’s mission is to advance the mental health and well-being of Asian American communities through research, professional practice, education, and policy. The website includes a directory of culturally aware providers.

National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association (NAAPIMHA) promotes the mental health and well-being of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Since its founding, NAAPIMHA strives to raise awareness of the role of mental health in an individual’s health and well-being, especially in Asian American Pacific Islander communities throughout the country.

The South Asian Mental Health Alliance (SAMHAA) is a non-profit community network engaging, educating and mobilizing the BC South Asian community around issues related to mental health.
South Asian Therapists is the largest South Asian mental health therapist and counseling community in the world. The provider directory has hundreds of South Asian therapists, including Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Afghani and Nepali heritage. (Instagram)
Desi LGBTQ+ Helpline for South Asians is a volunteer collective of South Asian queer and trans individuals across the United States the first and only national Desi lgbtQ+ Helpline in the United States. DeQH offers free, confidential, culturally sensitive peer support, information and resources for LGBTQ+ South Asian individuals, families and friends around the globe.

MUSICCARES
MusiCares operates a Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Program that recognizes those issues unique to music professionals at any stage of their career. They offer eligible individuals financial assistance and resources for psychotherapy, coaching and psychiatric expenses, inpatient and outpatient treatment, detox and sober living costs.
WASHINGTON RECOVERY HELPLINE
The Washington Recovery Help Line is a program of Crisis Connections. They offer an anonymous, confidential 24-hour help line for Washington State residents. This help line is for those experiencing substance use disorder, problem gambling, and/or a mental health challenge. Their professionally-trained volunteers and staff provide emotional support. They can also connect callers with local treatment resources or more community services.
OUTPATIENT TREATMENT CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES
Catholic Community Services provides a full continuum of outpatient Substance Use Disorder treatment services in Snohomish, Whatcom, and Skagit counties, as well as two specialized recovery and treatment centers in King County.
IDEAL OPTION
Ideal Option is a national leader in office-based medication-assisted treatment for addiction to opioids, alcohol, and other substances. Patients are scheduled for their first appointment within 24 hours or on the same day if possible. Walk-ins are welcome and urgent referrals from community partners such as jails and emergency departments are prioritized. All forms of insurance including Medicaid and Medicare are accepted and financial assistance and payment plans are available.

KING COUNTY NEEDLE EXCHANGE
Needle exchange is a public health program for people who use drugs by injection (PWID). Needle exchange programs provide new, sterile syringes and clean injection equipment in exchange for used, contaminated syringes. They also get drug users into drug treatment and health care. Other services include testing for HIV, hepatitis, TB and other infections to which drug users are prone; treatment readiness counseling and case management services; education about harms associated with drug use and how to minimize them; and safe disposal of contaminated equipment.

SEATTLE STEP CLINIC
Seattle STEP Clinic is a collaboration between the Hepatitis Education Project (Harm Reduction) and Country Doctor Community Health Centers (Medical) to provide rapid access to medications for opioid use disorder. Seattle STEP Clinic hours are Tuesday – Thursday from 1 PM to 5 PM.
