SMASH BENEFIT
TRIBUTE TO SUB POP RECORDS

Hailed as “one of Seattle’s best new concert traditions” by the Seattle Times, A SMASH Benefit is an incredibly special sell-out event held at the Moore Theatre every fall, raising money to help SMASH provides access to healthcare to Puget Sound musicians. We pair Seattle's legacy music artists with local up-and-comers to pay tribute to music icons every year. Past tributes include David Bowie, Neil Young, Sam Cooke, U2, Stevie Wonder, and more.

This year SMASH is proud to pay tribute to local iconic record label Sub Pop on November 19, 2023, at The Moore Theatre.

Past performers include Dave Matthews, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, Ayron Jones, Duff McKagan, Allen Stone, Ben Gibbard, Filthy Friends, Mike McCready, Thunderpussy, Zan Fiskum, The Smokey Brights, Shaina Shepherd, Shelby Earl, Naked Giants, Erik Howke of Portugal The Man and many more.

SMASH HELPS LOCAL MUSICIANS STAY HEALTHY

SMASH provides access to free and low-cost medical, dental, and mental health services for working musicians in the Puget Sound area, plus support for navigating the complicated and frustrating healthcare system. It’s free to be a member of SMASH, and you'll qualify even if you have insurance.

What our members are saying...

Through SMASH, I connected with a therapist through their telehealth services, which has been very life-changing. My mental health is something I’ve struggled with for a long time. A lot of our music icons and role models as musicians are people who struggled with their own demons and addiction, and it’s easy to lean into that and chalk it up to being part of the job. Having SMASH in my life to help me overcome this belief has been amazing. The best version of myself as a musician starts with being healthy and happy, and I wouldn’t be on this track right now without them.

We will not have a local music scene without musicians living locally.

As musicians hustle to make ends meet, healthcare takes a backseat to expenses like rent and food. Seeing a doctor when it isn’t an emergency feels like a luxury, but it shouldn’t be. Musicians deserve access to high-quality health care services, and they shouldn’t have to be rich or an insurance expert to access it either.

When you support SMASH you help provide a safety net that allows our local musicians to feel cared for and focus their resources on other key living expenses, including their musical craft. In turn, our local musicians enrich our local culture, our economy, and our lives.
