September 10th, 2022, marks the fifth installation of On The Block Second Saturdays - a monthly street market running 1-9pm on 11th Ave between E. Pike and E. Pine every Second Saturday of the month through October. Created for and by local artists, this free, all-ages event features a marketplace of 38+ local vendors selling handmade goods, vintage, street fashion, and more along with interactive art, community activations, and over 7 hours of DJ and live performances.
Dark_Wiley will open the day from 1-4pm presenting music and movement sets from Hannah March, Lüchi, Rachael’s Children, L3C3, and Margaux Gex. For 4-7pm, Blue Cone Studios takes the helm presents sets by COMBATT//MOMMY, Rocket tha Prophet, Wishbaby, Eli. Ready Ron Beat’s TakeOver Music Collective will be in the space with Seven da Pantha, Mojo Barnes, Hajj, Monster Elicit, Double Excel, Soul the Interrogator, Czon Cylis, and Nicco DeLuna. Finally from 7-9pm, a special Tacoma/Seattle segment curated by Throwbacks NW and All Star Vintage will wrap our evening featuring DJ QJ and performances by Skatey P, Astral Trap, Lil Boof, and Jarv Dee.
Our September community partners include Art Vault Seattle, who will be livestreaming from our stage as well as giving away free art supplies to give away at our info booth. SMASH will also be present to elevate free health and wellness resources to musicians, and Public Display Art will be returning along with a zine rack curated by 1312 Press, and we’re excited to be registering people for the upcoming WHAT NOW?! Towards Artist-led Movements convening Sept 30th-Oct 2nd at Washington Hall. So start your fall off proper with On The Block’s second to last Second Saturday of the season!
ABOUT ON THE BLOCK: As an alliance among neighboring artists, cultural spaces, and small business owners, the mission of “On The Block Second Saturdays' is to be a conduit to sustainable opportunity, creative equity, and abundance from the ground up. All donations, vendor fees, and sponsor proceeds go directly to paying local artists, stabilizing neighborhood arts spaces, and supporting future events.
