Seattle, WA., November 18, 2021, Seattle Area non-profit SMASH - Seattle Musicians Access to Sustainable Healthcare - announced its collaboration with Amazon Music to stream the fourth annual SMASH Benefit: Songs of Hope: LIVE, on Saturday November 20th, 2021.

Remote audiences will be able to view and listen to the benefit in live time on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and in the Amazon Music app, allowing at-home participation in the event.

SMASH's 2018 and 2019 shows led to SMASH’s annual benefit concert being hailed as “one of Seattle’s best new concert traditions” by the Seattle Times in 2020. • Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) will join Duff McKagan and Shaina Shepherd as they revisit their 2020 Songs of Hope powerhouse pairing of their rendition of “A Change is Gonna Come”

  • The SMASH benefit concert will also feature: Dave Matthews, Tomo Nakayama, Sera Cahoone, Stone Gossard, Ian Moore, Stephanie Anne Johnson, Brittany Davis, Stone Gossard, Shelby Earl, Naked Giants, Zan Fiskum, Alec Shaw, Eric Howk (Portugal. WE LOVE OUR SONGS OF HOPE LIVE PERFORMERS!

  • DAVE MATTHEWS It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • TOMO NAKAYAMA It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • SERA CAHOONE It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • DUFF MCKAGAN Musician and writer Duff McKagan is a longtime bassist for Guns N’ Roses, with whom he is currently touring. Known for his frequent collaborations with fellow Seattle artists, McKagan is also a celebrated solo artist with several albums out on release.

  • SHAINA SHEPHERD Known for her pervasive style as front woman to the soul- grunge band BEARAXE, Shaina Shepherd’s instantly-recognizable voice has brought her into various creative spaces. Shaina tells heartfelt stories of love, loss & personal power. She describes herself as an “anthem artist”—translating pivotal moments in human history through her unique form of poetry.

  • NAKED GIANTS Singer and guitarist Grant Mullen, singer and bassist Gianni Aiello and drummer Henry LaVallee are out to conjure a rip-roaring good time. Seattle’s Naked Giants burst onto the national music scene with their 2018 full-length debut, SLUFF, a candied and insanely catchy blast of unhinged pop-punk-grunge-surf-rock, followed up by their sophomore album The Shadow, an energetic and exhilarating musical rollercoaster ride.

  • KIM WEST & RYAN DEVLIN (SMOKEY BRIGHTS) Smokey Brights is a rock band out of Seattle fronted by husband and wife duo Kim West (keys and vocals) and Ryan Devlin (guitar and vocals.) The couple’s entrancing bond shines through in their deeply personal cowriting as well as their ecstatic live performances. In 2020 they released their third full length on Freakout Records, I Love You But Damn, and just recently unveiled two new singles, Honey Eye and Unity.

  • STEPHANIE ANNE JOHNSON Front person for the Tacoma-based band, The Hidogs, Stephanie Anne Johnson can don a cowboy hat and sing over a slide as old timers weep, and they have wowed judges on the immensely popular NBC TV series, The Voice, showcasing their gifts. Stephanie Anne Johnson has opened for a variety of acts including political figure Bernie Sanders and artist Ani DiFranco; their music, which is rooted in all that’s American, expresses the pain of the past, the roots of the down home and the hope that hard work will lead to proper reward.

  • JULIA MASSEY (WARREN DUNES) Julia Massey has a deep catalog of music ranging from her Cosmic Folk Rock days in the Five Finger Discount to her newer collaboration with the Post Modern Beach Music of Warren Dunes. Their newest release "Get Well Soon" has been critically acclaimed along many musical avenues culminating with a celebrated show at the Neptune Theater this past summer. Martin Douglas (KEXP) observes “the often joyous, buoyant sound of this trio feels forged in comfort and unshakable positivity and the message that we’re here together.” She is thrilled to pieces to be a part of the SMASH benefit show.

  • IAN MOORE SMASH President and Co-Founder Ian Moore has been writing, recording, and touring his music for almost 30 years. He is a Grammy governor, a perpetual dreamer, and a fierce advocate for arts and the artists that make them. The economy of music has changed so dramatically in the last few years, and the road provided a vantage point from which to see how this was deeply affecting his music community. SMASH was born out of this need.

  • ZAN FISKUM Maple Valley-raised singer/songwriter Zan Fiskum uses her haunting and beautifully controlled singing to craft ethereal and brooding folk/pop songs. Zan developed a love for musical theater while also exploring songwriting and worship music. After the release of her debut single “How Can I,” Zan made her national debut as a Top 9 finalist on Season 18 of The Voice.

  • ERIC HOWK (PORTUGAL THE MAN) Eric Howk is the guitarist for Portugal. The Man, having grown up with the founding members in Wasilla, Alaska. Paralyzed from a spinal cord injury in 2007, Howk is an advocate for visibility and relatability of disabled Americans.

  • STONE GOSSARD Stone Gossard is the rhythm guitarist for and one of the founding members of Pearl Jam. He has also performed as a member of bands March of Crimes, Green River, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog and Brad. Additionally, Gossard has released several solo albums and projects including Bayleaf and Moonlander.

  • BRITTANY DAVIS Gifted non-binary multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and engineer Brittany Davis is blind and describes themself as a vessel of sound and experiences music in spirit and colors. Brittany’s music has a wide range and credits Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, H.E.R., Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Lizzo, Cardi B, & Beyonce as some of their main artist influences.

  • BEVERLY CRUSHER (COZEL) Beverly Crusher is a Seattle based band playing what they have coined as Acid Punk. As commanding as their namesake, their slick riffs and heavy shredding evoke flying car chases of the future. Pedal-to-the-metal bass playing by Max Stiles and the volcanic drumming of Sam Stiles are perfect ride-or-dies for Cozell Wilson’s ruthless guitar and vox. Formed in 2014, the trio offers heavy, high energy rock that's guaranteed to make your ears smirk.
